We are thrilled to be selected as Washington State Representative Adam Smith’s 2018 Angels in Adoption® Honoree for our unique contribution to supporting Western Washington’s most vulnerable children and families!
“Congratulations to Amara for being recognized as a 2018 Angel in Adoption. Amara has positively contributed to the lives of countless children in the foster care system throughout our region,” said Representative Adam Smith. “As an adoptee myself, I have firsthand experience in the value of Amara’s work connecting families with children in need of safe, stable and loving homes. Providing guidance and resources to children and their families is essential to help communities, these families, and the children thrive.”
“To date, over 2,500 Angels have come to Washington, D.C. to share their firsthand experiences in adoption and foster care with Members of Congress,” said Becky Weichhand, Executive Director at the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, which coordinates the Angels in Adoption Program. “Members of Congress are then able to use their new experiential understanding of these issues to improve policy to support these children and the families that open their hearts and homes to them.”
Amara’s award will be accepted by our Director of Post-Adoption Services, Angela Tucker. Tucker leads Amara’s work to ensure that adoptees and those who love them receive support to promote stability and fulfilling family relationships. On September 25th, 2018 our Director of Post-Adoption Services, Angela Tucker, received the award on our behalf in Washington DC.
