Happy Pride! Our community of foster parents, kinship caregivers, staff, and volunteers would not be complete without the expansive love, care, and personhood of our LGBTQIA+ families.
One of these Amara families shares, “Pride is something we try to engrain in all the kids who stay with us. Pride in the awesome humans they are… Pride in their ability to learn and self-advocate. We really take to heart exposing kids to all members of our community and making sure they know they are in a safe place. With chosen family being a common theme throughout the LGBT+ community, fostering has allowed us and our chosen family to welcome more kids and their parents in our circle.”
Another one of our LGBTQIA+ foster families believes foster care “has been a way for my wife and I to continue to share our loving family with kids who need a safe place,” and is honored to “help navigate queer issues with kiddos, whether their own or of their peers, through our lived experiences.”
We are grateful to Amara families like these who offer unwavering love and support for however long kids may need.
