We’re Here for Your Family

Amara’s Family Resource Center provides families with immediate help such as food*, diapers and other baby necessities, hygiene items, and more. We also connect people to other resources such as healthcare, housing, transportation, and parenting supports. These kinds of resources can prevent crises that can sometimes lead to child welfare system involvement.

Our Family Resource Center is, as of September 2, 2026, temporarily located at Gates High School, 4608 128th St E, Portables 405 & 406, in Tacoma, while our Tacoma office is closed for remodeling.

We are open starting September 2 at our temporary location at Gates High School at 4608 128th St E, Tacoma.

Open:

Tuesdays 1 pm – 5 pm
Wednesdays 10 am – 5 pm
Thursdays 10 am – 1 pm
Fridays 10 am – 12 pm & 3 pm – 5 pm

How to Get Here

Head to the Franklin Pierce School District area of Tacoma. We are temporarily located at Gates High School on 128th St E. Portables 405 & 406 can be accessed on Bingham Ave. E.

What Else is Happening?

The Family Resource Center houses free opportunities for youth and parents:

Amara’s Youth Development drop-in center serves youth 11 – 18 and offers free activities and fun pop-ups in a safe space with our youth development specialists. It is open 2 – 5 pm on Wednesday afternoons.

Support for Parents

We also offer help to Pierce County parents so they can find resources and supports they need make ends meet and help their children thrive. Our new Family Support Services program connects local parents with a resource navigator who collaborates with parents for individualized support. This program is open to child welfare involved Pierce County parents and caregivers who are caring for children ages 0-18.

* Amara’s food pantry is generously provided by Eloise’s Cooking Pot, a program of the Make a Difference Foundation in Tacoma.

Amara’s Family Resource Center is partially funded by a generous grant from the state Department of Children, Youth and Families.
